Examples involving the dot product:

(1) Calculate 𝐀𝐁 with

𝐀=5𝐒^+2𝐣^𝐀^ \\ 𝐁=3𝐒^3𝐣^+3𝐀^ \\

answer:

𝐀𝐁=(5)(3)+(2)(3)+(1)(+3) \\ 𝐀𝐁=1563=6 \\

(2) Find the angle between the above vectors.

answer:

We know their dot product, so we just need to calculate their magnitudes |𝐀|=Ax2+Ay2+Az2=52+22+(1)2 \\ |𝐀|=25+4+1=30=5.48 \\ \\

|𝐁|=32+(3)2+(3)2 \\ |𝐁|=9+9+9=27=5.2 \\ \\

Finally

𝐀𝐁=|𝐀||𝐁|cosθ

θ=cos1(𝐀𝐁|𝐀||𝐁|) \\

θ=cos1(6(5.48)(5.2)) \\ θ=cos1(0.21)=77.9o
