PlanetPhysics/Position

The position of an [[../TrivialGroupoid/|object]] is its location. It is usually denoted as $x$. When working in more than one dimension, position may be considered as a [[../Vectors/|vector]] quantity; it can then be denoted as $𝐱$.

Position is frequently considered as a [[../Bijective/|function]] of time. In the one-dimensional case, the notations $x(t)$ and (more rarely) $s(t)$ are used. On the other hand, when working in more than one dimension, the notation $𝐱(t)$ is used.

The SI unit of position is $\mathrm{m}$ (meters).
