<templatestyles src="Zhegalkin matrix/matrix pi xor phi.css" /> Template:Collapsible START Let π=Π2 (length 16), ϕ=Φ3 (length 16) and ξ=Ξ3 (length 256).
Let Ik={iξi=ϕk} be the set of places where ξ has the entry ϕk.

π is the left column of the following matrix.
ϕ is its top row, and also shown in the column to its right.
The matrix entries are the bitwise XORs of its left column and top row.
Ik is row k as a set of numbers: {πkffϕ}

Example:   In which places is ξ equal to ϕ10=168?
π10=2I10={2ffϕ}={2,28,...,226,252}
It can be easily seen, that the first and the last entry 168 in ξ is in places 2 and 252.

The lower 8×16 matrix corresponds to row 10.
The one above contains the Zhegalkin indices, and has the same set of columns.
